Islamabad: Pakistan is one of the worst countries in the world in terms of business. This is a country where no investment is safe. The proof of this is a recent incident in Karachi. Actually, a Pakistani businessman living abroad had built a magnificent shopping mall in Gulistan-e-Jauhar area of Karachi by spending crores of rupees. But, the crowd that reached on the day of inauguration looted the shops of the shopping mall. The situation became so bad that the police who reached the spot had to disperse the crowd by using bamboo sticks.

The mall gave big offers at the inauguration

According to the report of ARvoy News, big offers were given to attract people on the day of inauguration of the mall. In such a situation, a large number of people reached the mall to buy goods at less cost. Seeing the crowd increasing, the security personnel of the mall closed the doors. On this, the crowd standing outside became furious and attacked armed with sticks. The crowd broke the glass walls of the mall and also scuffled with the security personnel. After this, whoever got hold of whatever, picked it up and ran out.

Police was not present on the spot

No police personnel were present at the spot at the time of the incident. But, seeing the situation turning violent, the mall administration informed the police. The police who reached the spot were also unable to stop the crowd. In such a situation, the situation was brought under control by calling additional security personnel. According to Karachi SSP East Farooq Raza, some miscreants emerged after the mart was closed and tried to pelt stones. The police said that they were not informed in advance by the mall management and they later managed to control the situation.

The mall expressed regret over the incident

The chaos led to massive traffic jams in Karachi’s Johar and Rabia City areas, with long queues of vehicles. The mart’s marketing head Anas Malik lamented people’s behaviour with the store, saying the centre’s aim was to keep the prices available all year round. “Unless people understand, how will things improve,” Malik said. A salesperson said they had given the story a lot of time and were “unhappy” with people’s reaction. The shopping centre said in a Facebook post, “Dream Bazaar will reopen tomorrow!”
