Former Leipzig player Olmo was substituted in the second half, hit the crossbar straight away (58th minute) and scored the winning goal for his youth club in the 82nd minute with a shot from ten meters. The European champions had to watch the first two match days because Barca had not been able to register him.
The club from the Madrid district of Vallecas took the lead through Unai Lopez (9th minute), but Pedri (60th minute) equalized after the break. For Barça, it was only the second win against Rayo in the last seven league duels.
