Gunmen Fire on Transit Bus in Lima
Police and criminalistics experts recovered at least 10 shell casings from the scene. The incident took place at approximately 3 p.m. on Wednesday, October 28, 2026. According to security camera footage, the bus had pulled over at an authorized stop to allow passengers to exit when a black car blocked its path. A hooded individual, seated in the passenger side of the car, leaned out of the vehicle and fired directly at the bus driver’s window.
Officers from the Mirones Bajo police station and agents from the Criminal Investigation Division (Divincri) of Cercado de Lima responded to the location, cordoning off the area and restricting traffic. A 35-year-old passenger also sustained cuts to her arm during the shooting, though no passengers were struck by direct gunfire.
Driver Escapes Fatal Shooting
Reports from the scene indicate that the driver avoided fatal injuries by reacting quickly. Some accounts suggest the attackers’ weapon may have jammed during the sequence, providing the driver a moment to take cover while multiple bullets impacted the vehicle’s windows and roof.
What scares me the most is that it’s not just motorcycles anymore, but now cars as well,
an anonymous witness told Trome.
