Ssangyong, the third car brand from Korea alongside Kia and Hyundai, has electrified the Korando. The SUV is suitable for everyday use and economical. But it takes patience to load.

ASsangyong cars are rarely seen on our roads. Many people are not even aware of the manufacturer, whose name literally means twin dragons. No wonder, since the company only sold 1,546 vehicles in Germany last year. The author was often asked by passers-by what kind of brand it was. On the outside, the 4.47 meter long, electric SUV differs from its brothers with petrol or diesel engines only in a few blue accents and the streamlined, closed radiator grille. Sharp beads and edges in the flanks are intended to provide excitement, the rear with the wide chrome clasp looks bulky.

Where awareness and image are lacking, the price-performance ratio must be right. Here, the Korando E-Motion is competitive: 38,990 euros for the basic version, which is well equipped with two-zone air conditioning, a heat pump and some driving assistants, is bronze in the price list; 29,420 euros are to be paid after deducting the currently granted electric bonus. The Platinum version also offers partial leather seats, front seat heating and navigation for an additional charge of 3000 euros. The test car as a Titanium model cost 45,590 euros and came up with LED headlights, ventilated leather seats in the front and blind spot warning systems as well as lane change and parking assistants. The only item in the surcharge list is the metallic paint for 600 euros. Unfortunately, a head-up display and an electrically operated tailgate are not offered.
