Yemeni Houthis announce ‘military operation’ in UAE

Meanwhile, Yemeni Houthi rebels announced an attack on the territory of the UAE. The representative of the Houthi movement “Ansar Allah” Yahya Saria indicated that “within the next few hours” a statement “about the military operation” will be received, Al Jazeera reported. According to the Al Mayadeen TV channel, the attack was carried out with the help of 20 drones and 10 ballistic missiles, which hit “sensitive targets”.

In turn, the Al Arabiya TV channel reported on the interception and destruction by the Arabian coalition of three drones fired by the Houthis from the airport of the Yemeni capital Sana’a. The coalition accused the Yemeni rebels of causing damage to civilians and civilian objects.

In Yemen, since 2014, there has been a bloody civil war between the Houthis, who captured the capital of the country – Sanaa – and most of the northern regions of the country, and government troops, receiving support from Saudi Arabia. The military conflict in Yemen is seen as a confrontation between Riyadh and Tehran. In mid-May 2019, two oil stations in Saudi Arabia were attacked by armed drones. The Houthis also claimed responsibility for the attacks.
