In Crimea, a training was held with the duty forces of the naval aviation and air defense (air defense) of the Black Sea Fleet (Black Sea Fleet). During the training, the situation with the detection and tracking of aircraft was worked out. The purpose of the training was to check the readiness of the Crimean air defense forces on duty.

“To check and readiness of the air defense forces on duty of the Crimean Peninsula with crews of naval aviation and air defense of the Black Sea Fleet, as well as with divisions of S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems, crews of Pantsir-S missile and cannon systems, a training was carried out in areas of responsibility”, – reported by the Black Sea Fleet. During the event, the issues of detecting and tracking aircraft, including at ultra-low altitudes, were worked out. The training was also attended by the forces of the Air Force and Air Defense units of the Southern Military District.

In 2014, Crimea became part of Russia following a referendum. On the territory of the peninsula, two Russian subjects were formed – the Republic of Crimea and the federal city of Sevastopol. Ukraine and Western countries did not recognize the holding of the referendum and accused Russia of annexing the territory.
