Several drones crashed inside Israel on Thursday after coming from Lebanon, the Israeli military said, while a mayor told Israel’s Channel 12 that one person was seriously injured.
He added that in addition to the downed drones, “a number of suspicious aerial targets that were detected from Lebanon towards Israeli territory were intercepted.”
For its part, Hezbollah announced in a statement that it launched an air attack with a squadron of booby-trapped drones on the newly established headquarters of the 146th Division’s artillery battalion command south of Kabri, targeting the command posts, the positions of the fire control crews and officers, and the artillery positions, and that it achieved a direct hit on the site, killing and wounding the crew.
The ongoing exchange of fire between Israel and Hezbollah since last October has resulted in the deaths of at least 500 people in Lebanon, including 95 civilians and 328 Hezbollah fighters, according to a count by Agence France-Presse based on Hezbollah data and official Lebanese sources.
Hezbollah also mourned 25 of its fighters who were killed in Syria. The Israeli side announced the death of 29 people, most of whom were soldiers.
