Muscat: Drowning deaths are on the rise in the country. Last year, 521 drowning deaths were reported in various governorates across the country, an increase of 44.3 per cent over 2020.

The Civil Defense and Ambulance Authority (CDAA) estimates that there were 361 deaths in the country by 2020. The official said the CDAA handled 521 cases of drowning last year. Swimming requires skill and vigilance. Do not try to swim without such things. The official also said that the children should be supervised. According to CDAA figures, the death toll in the country was 268 in 2016, 173 in 2017, 155 in 2018 and 369 in 2019.

The CDAA statement urged all to be vigilant and take safety precautions to avoid accidents while swimming. Those going on adventure trips and swimmers in plaintiffs should wear life jackets and follow the guidelines. Those who intend to travel, including swimming, should rely on tourism companies that provide the best safety equipment.
