Doha: Customs thwarted an attempt to smuggle drugs into Qatar. They tried to bring the banned pills hidden inside car chargers. The Air Cargo and Private Airports Department under the Postal Consignments Customs Division of the country has busted drug smuggling.
Two types of prohibited drug pills were hidden in the parcel that brought the car chargers. It contained 169 Captagon tablets and 41 Larica tablets. Officials released pictures of the seized goods through social media pages.
Last week authorities stopped an attempt to smuggle hashish into Qatar by hiding it in the back seat of a vehicle. With the cooperation of officials from the Ministry of Interior, Qatar Land Customs seized five kilograms of drugs that day. Officials said that the customs officials have received sophisticated systems and training to counter such illegal activities. Trained personnel can detect abnormalities even from passengers’ body language. And the officials will find out the latest methods used by the smugglers, said a statement issued by Customs.
