Drugs worth Rs 11.41 crore smuggled from Ethiopia to Chennai seized: Angolan woman arrested

CHENNAI: An Ethiopian Airlines passenger plane arrived at Chennai International Airport yesterday from the Ethiopian capital Attis Ababa. During the search of Iqbal Pasha (38), who had traveled to Ethiopia, customs officials found 9 kg 590 g of cocaine and heroin in his possession. Its international value is Rs.100 crores. Since Chennai Airport was established in 1932, so far no drugs have been confiscated. Subsequently, the customs officials arrested the passenger and seized drugs worth Rs.100 crores. Airport officials arrested Iqbal Pasha and interrogated him.

Then they found cocaine hidden in the Angolan woman’s handbag. Its weight is 1.183 kg. Its international value is Rs.11.41 crore. Customs officials then arrested the woman. It was revealed that he was associated with an international drug gang. It is noteworthy that for the past few days, there has been a large increase in the smuggling of narcotics on flights from Ethiopia at the Chennai airport.
