The drugstore chain dm has updated its terms of use. In the future, the company plans to automatically delete user accounts.
News from the drugstore chain dm: The company plans to delete customer accounts that have not been used for at least two years. The company announced this in an email that it is currently sending to customers.
In the message, dm points out its changed terms of use. These apply “automatically from October 1st, 2024, unless you object by September 30th, 2024,” it says. Users therefore do not need to do anything else.
However, those who have not used their customer account with the drugstore chain for a long time and would like to keep the account should take action. To avoid the automatic deletion of the dm account, these customers only need to log in there once.
The company is also renaming its customer accounts. Instead of “My dm account,” the account will now be called “dm account.” The drugstore chain says it wants to ensure “more linguistic clarity.”
Customers can now enter additional data in the new account, such as personal interests. This will probably enable customers to receive offers tailored to them. According to the new terms of use, customers will be shown “individual product recommendations and current content” via their account.
And there is another innovation according to dm: The company wants to introduce a chatbot soon that “can gradually answer more and more of your questions about our products and services”. The program is intended to be able to advise the provider’s customers with the help of artificial intelligence.
Initially, the AI bot’s focus will be on beauty topics. But that is set to change. Later, dm wants to “also enable its customers to make inquiries via voice input,” it says. However, dm did not say in the message when exactly the AI bot will be used.
