SINGAPORE, Sept. 13, 2025 – A predawn crash saw a man arrested for driving under the influence and while disqualified after he plowed a car into a traffic light pole near Nicoll Highway and Sims Way.

The Singapore Civil Defense Force confirmed it was alerted to the smash-up shortly before 2 a.m. on Sept. 13.

Police officers on patrol along Beach Road signaled for the vehicle to halt. instead, the car sped off, ultimately crashing onto a pedestrian walkway and into the traffic light pole at the junction.

Footage circulating online depicts a black car significantly damaged,with parts scattered on the ground and its driver-side door hanging open. The traffic light pole itself was visibly damaged, leaning at an angle with one signal head detached and lying on the pavement.

The driver, conscious, was transported to Tan Tock Seng Hospital. Authorities confirmed his arrest in connection with the incident.

Authorities stated that police investigations into the accident are continuing.
