‘Drunk Scooter’ BTS Suga Appears at Police Station… “Sorry for Disappointing You”

Police investigate drunk driving incident, etc.

BTS member Suga (real name Min Yoon-gi, 31, pictured), who is currently serving as a social service worker, appeared at the police station on the 23rd for questioning. This is 17 days after he was caught drinking on the 6th.

At around 7:40 PM that day, Suga appeared at the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul after completing his public service duties. Standing in front of the press in a white T-shirt and black jacket, Suga expressed his apology, saying, “I am very sorry.” Suga said, “I am truly reflecting on the fact that I have greatly disappointed many fans,” and “I will sincerely undergo investigation.”

Then, Suga bowed his head and said, “I apologize again,” and went into the police station to be questioned. He did not answer any of the reporters’ questions, such as, “Why was your appearance at the police station delayed?”

During the investigation that day, the police plan to investigate the circumstances of Suga’s drunk driving, the amount of alcohol consumed, and the intention to downplay the incident. Previously, Suga was caught by the police while riding an electric scooter home after drinking alcohol in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul at around 11:14 PM on the 6th of this month.

At the time, Suga’s blood alcohol level was confirmed to be 0.227%, which was significantly higher than the license revocation standard (0.08%), and he was booked on charges of drunk driving under the Road Traffic Act. Contrary to Suga’s explanation that he “rode an electric kickboard” after drinking, criticism was raised that the police tried to downplay the incident as it was confirmed that he was actually driving an electric scooter.
