Forecast for the period August 25-31, 2023.
Dragomir Atanasov, agrometeorologist at NIMH
For most days of the next seven-day period, agro-meteorological conditions will continue to be dominated by hot and dry weather. The predicted maximum temperatures of up to and above 37 C in places will speed up the final stages of late spring crop development.
Early corn hybrids have completed their development and are in the full maturity phase. In the case of mid-late hybrids, waxy maturity will be observed (Bazovets, Nikolaevo, Kazanlak), and in the late ones – milky (agrostations Targovishte, Plovdiv, Pazardzhik). Ripening will take place with the sunflower. Harvesting should be done at a seed humidity of around 8% for long-term and high-quality storage. In the case of the vine in the southern regions, the grains will be scattered – agrostations Sliven, Lyubimets, Haskovo, Chirpan, Plovdiv. In this phase after the rains, plant protection sprays are aimed at protecting the grapes from gray rot infection.
At the end of the period, there will be a change in agro-meteorological conditions from west to east – lower temperatures and local precipitation are forecast. In the areas where there will be no precipitation, the absence of moisture in the soil will prevent the main and pre-sowing tillage and the sowing of winter rapeseed. There, the degree of fire danger remains high.
