Published: November 10, 2024
Time.news Editor: Christian, congratulations on winning “Deutschland sucht den Superstar”! First off, how does it feel to be the new superstar?
Christian Jährig: Thank you so much! It’s a surreal feeling. Winning the final and receiving such incredible support from the audience and the judges is just amazing. I still can’t believe it!
Editor: You triumphed with your song “On Your Own Two Feet.” What was your inspiration for that piece?
Christian: The song reflects my personal journey and the struggles I’ve faced along the way. It’s all about resilience and standing strong on your own, which I think resonates with many people. I wanted to convey that feeling of empowerment through my music.
Editor: Your voice has been described as unique due to a lack of vocal breaks. Can you explain what that means and how it affects your singing style?
Christian: Absolutely! I’ve been fortunate enough not to have to deal with vocal breaks, which is quite rare. My voice stays consistent, almost like a woman’s voice, which gives me a different edge. This continuity allows me to express emotions without interruption, making my performances more fluid and impactful.
Editor: During the final, you impressed everyone with a cover of Céline Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On.” How did you prepare for such a demanding song?
Christian: That song is iconic and holds a special place in music history, so I wanted to do it justice. I spent a lot of time perfecting it, working on my breath control and emotional delivery. It’s all about connecting with the audience, and I just hoped they felt that connection.
Editor: You walked away with 100,000 euros and a record deal as part of your prize. How do you plan to use the prize money?
Christian: I’m planning to invest in my music career, of course! But I also want to use part of it to support social projects that are dear to me. Giving back has always been important to me, and I believe that music can inspire change.
Editor: With the spotlight now on you, what are your aspirations for your music career?
Christian: My goal is to create music that resonates with people and evokes strong emotions. I want to take risks and explore different genres. Ultimately, I hope to become an artist who not only entertains but also makes a positive impact on society.
Editor: Lastly, what advice would you give to aspiring artists who look up to you?
Christian: Believe in yourself and stay true to your artistry. The journey may be tough, but perseverance is key. Keep honing your craft, and don’t be afraid to be vulnerable in your music. That’s where the magic happens!
Editor: Wise words, Christian. Thank you for sharing your journey with us today, and we can’t wait to see what you’ll do next!
Christian: Thank you! I’m excited for the future and grateful for the support!
