MultiChoice has overhauled its DStv package lineup in South Africa, introducing dedicated sports and entertainment bundles on September 17, 2026. The major restructuring renames several bouquets, migrates millions of subscribers, and reshapes pricing structures across tiers ranging from R30 to nearly R1,000 per month.
The changes represent one of the most substantial package shake-ups for the broadcaster in more than two decades. Announced by DStv’s operating company in South Africa on September 7, 2026, the new bouquet structure took effect on Thursday, September 17.
Rather than selling channels individually, MultiChoice continues to build its service around tiered bundles. In this latest overhaul, however, the company is reshaping those tiers around specific viewing preferences—particularly live sport and premium entertainment—while moving existing subscribers into reorganized plans.
How DStv Compact and Family Subscribers Move Into New Bouquets
The most visible shift impacts DStv Compact customers, who are being migrated to the new DStv Sports package. Despite the name change, subscribers retain the entertainment programming they previously enjoyed on Compact while gaining expanded sports coverage at a streaming-only price starting from R399 per month.

The new Sports package offers four more channels than the former Compact bouquet. Its lineup includes the WWE Channel, ESPN 1 and 2, SportyTV, and multiple SuperSport channels. Subscribers also gain access to Wethu+, a mega-channel combining programming from Mzansi Wethu, Mzansi Magic, Bioskop Movies, and selected PSL fixtures.
At the same time, Family and Access subscribers are seeing automatic migrations. DStv Family customers move to the new Select package while retaining their R299 monthly price, gaining 10 additional channels, access to Wethu+, and expanded football coverage through SuperSport PSL. Access subscribers on the R99 plan migrate automatically to Starter, which includes Wethu+, Moja Love, kykNET & Kie, M Movies Legends, and SuperSport Kickoff.
A Closer Look at Premium Pricing and the Dedicated Movies Tier
While middle tiers experience significant reshuffling, DStv Premium remains largely untouched by the restructuring.
For viewers primarily interested in entertainment rather than sport, DStv introduced a Movies & Series package priced at R500 per month. This tier includes M-Net, kykNET, M-Net Movies+, and BBC Earth, alongside other lifestyle and entertainment programming.
Complementing these changes, the broadcaster simplified its M-Net Movies lineup. M-Net Movies 1 and 2 were combined into M-Net Movies+, while M-Net Movies 3 became M-Net Stars, and M-Net Movies 4 was renamed M-Net Legends.
Understanding the Stacked DStv Channel Hierarchy
DStv structures its services so that tiers stack cumulatively; every higher package includes all the channels of the tiers beneath it and adds more on top. Broadly speaking, news, documentaries, and local channels reach almost every tier, starting with EasyView at R30 per month, while kids’ programming begins around the Family tier, and comprehensive sports and movie packages sit near the top.
