Kolkata Innings:
Kolkata team scored 204/7 runs in 20 overs as opener Kurbus 57 (44), Shardul Thakur 68 (29) and Ringu Singh 46 (33) performed tremendously in the Kolkata team. Apart from these three, no one has touched double digit runs. Venkatesh Iyer 3 (7), Nitish Rana 1 (5), Russel 0 (1) etc. were badly bowled.
RCB innings:
Chasing the target, not a single member of the RCB team scored 30+ runs. Virat Kohli 21 (18), Two Plusy 23 (12), Bracewell 19 (18) were the only batsmen who scored some runs. David Willey 20 (20) and Akash Deep 17 (8) added runs in the final phase.
Others were bowled out against the spinners. As a result, the RCB team scored only 123/10 at the end of 17.4 overs and lost badly by 81 runs.
Two Plus Interview:
RCB captain Du Plessi gave an interview after the match. In it, “We performed well in bowling and controlled Kolkata to 100/5 in 13 overs. But, after that, he didn’t do well in anything. Shardul Tagore was brilliant and put the pressure on. Following this, Kolkata’s leg spinners bowled brilliantly against us. He said that he could not face Narine and Varun Chakraborty.
He further said, “The pitch was good enough for batting. It’s okay to lose. But must have scored at least 160 runs and lost. We learned a lot from this competition. Both Mohammad Siraj and Harshal Patel are great bowlers. We will give a comeback in the next match,” he said.
