Meenambakkam: An Emirates Airlines flight from Chennai to Dubai was scheduled to depart from Chennai International Airport yesterday morning. Customs officials searched the belongings of the passengers. Then a group of 4 men from Chennai had come to fly to Dubai. When they were taken to a separate room and searched, they found foreign currency, including US dollars and euros, hidden inside their underwear. The customs officials then canceled the journey of 4 persons. They also confiscated foreign currency.
Similarly, the Indigo Airlines passenger flight from Chennai to Sri Lanka was ready to depart yesterday morning. The passengers who came to travel in it were checked by the customs officials. A search of a 25-year-old male passenger in Chennai at the time revealed that the US dollar was hidden inside his underwear. His trip was also canceled and all the foreign money he had was confiscated.
