In a resounding success and record number, Dubai International Airport received about 45 million passengers in the first half of this year.
According to WAM, the airport administration said in a statement: “Dubai International Airport recorded a record number of 44.9 million passengers in the first half of this year, an increase of 8% compared to the same period last year.”
He added Statement“This achievement reflects its position as a major global gateway, thanks to its wide and growing network of destinations that connect Dubai to the most important international markets. This vital role of the airport contributes to enhancing Dubai’s position as a global hub for business and tourism, and thus enhancing the emirate’s economic growth.”
According to the statement, “These figures reflect the emirate’s growing attractiveness and strong economic growth, with GDP reaching AED 115 billion ($31.33 billion) in the first quarter of 2024, an increase of 3.2% over last year.”
According to the statement, “Major and emerging markets, including South Asia, Western Europe, the GCC and East Asia, have played a vital role in Dubai International’s success. In the first half of 2024, India maintained its position as Dubai International’s largest destination country with 6.1 million passengers, while passenger traffic from China exceeded one million passengers, with an annual growth of 80%.”
“This record performance in the first half of this year underscores our strategic importance as a global aviation hub,” said Paul Griffiths, CEO of Dubai Airports. “Dubai is at the forefront of global cities in attracting talent, businesses and tourists from all over the world.”
“We are proud to be the first gateway to this global city, contributing to driving growth and enhancing the airport experience for each of our travelling guests,” he added, noting that strong demand from key markets such as India and the gradual recovery of the Chinese market have played a role in achieving this success.
