Princess Sheikha Mohammed wants a divorce. She has now announced this to her husband and hundreds of thousands of followers in an Instagram post.
The princess has had enough. Sheikha Mahra bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum is the daughter of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the King of Dubai and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates. She and her husband Mana Al Maktoum only tied the knot in May 2023 and became parents of a girl last May. But their family happiness did not last forever. Just a few months after the birth of their first child together, the 30-year-old is now drawing a line under it on Instagram.
“Dear husband, since you are busy with other people, I hereby declare our divorce,” she wrote in a post, without being more specific. Her words were liked by almost 50,000 followers in less than 24 hours. In the following post you can see her husband Mana Al Maktoum.
“I’m divorcing you, I’m divorcing you and I’m divorcing you. Take care of yourself. Your ex-wife,” the princess concludes the post and receives encouragement in the form of numerous comments. “We’re always behind you. Strong woman,” writes one user. Another cheers her up: “A divorce is not the end of life, a divorce is a new beginning.”
Sheikha Mahra bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and her estranged husband no longer appear to be following each other on Instagram and have removed all posts in which they appear together from their respective accounts. The Maktoum royal family has not yet commented on her post.
