Police opened an investigation today (Saturday) upon receiving a report of a brawl that occurred on the football field in Baqa al-Gharbiya at the end of the football match between the local youth team, Ihud Bnei Baqa, and the youth team from Hapoel Herzliya, in the National Youth League.
Preliminary investigation revealed that at the end of the game in which the visiting team won, a brawl began between the teams and soon after the local crowd joined the brawl. The stadium manager called the police so that the fight would not degenerate into something bigger.
As a result of the fight, a Herzliya player was lightly injured, received medical treatment at the scene and was evacuated with his team, accompanied by the police. Police have opened such an investigation and arrests are expected later. Also, a hearing will be held tomorrow for the field managers at the city police station.
Herzliya reported that some of the Baka management tried to help the people of Herzliya not get hurt and prevent a major disaster until the arrival of the police. One of the members of the Herzliya management and one player were slightly injured following the shameful incident.
