Relevant warning signs are placed in the swimming area.

Similarly, the recommendation not to swim remains in Lucavsala’s swimming areas for the time being, informs the Housing and Environment Department of the Riga municipality.

The recommendation not to swim should be followed by sensitive population groups – young children, elderly people and people with chronic diseases whose immune system is weakened.

In the official swimming areas, the water quality is checked by the Health Inspectorate at the beginning of each month, while the Department of Housing and Environment organizes monthly monitoring of the bathing water quality during the swimming season in 24 recreation spots near water bodies that are popular with residents.

Although the water quality is good in almost all swimming areas, the municipality recommends using the official swimming areas in Daugavgrīva, Vakarbulļi, Vecāki, Bābelītī and Kipsala, because they are adequately equipped and the lifeguards of the Riga municipality police take care of the safety of swimmers there. Riga municipality reminds of the need to be careful when going to cool off in water bodies, paying special attention to children on these hot days.
