Mikhail Watford, a Russian oligarch of Ukrainian descent, was found dead today (Thursday) at his British estate. His associates told the British media that his death was most likely related to the war in Ukraine – and estimated that the timing was not a coincidence.

Watford’s 66-year-old body was reportedly found by his estate gardener. The prevailing assessment is that Shatford committed suicide, but his family and friends said they had a hard time believing it. “He had every reason to live. He had a beautiful wife, successful children and a dream home,” said one of his friends. “Why would he end his life? It makes no sense.”

Other insiders estimated that he may have been assassinated by Russian or Ukrainian agents. “After all the Russians who have died in suspicious circumstances in Britain in recent years, it is only natural to raise all sorts of speculations about his death,” one of them told the British Sun website. “I think his mental state has been greatly affected by what is happening in Ukraine, and the timing of his death near the invasion is certainly not a coincidence.”

British police said they had opened an investigation into the incident to determine the circumstances of Watford’s death. “There is nothing new about malice at the moment, but we are taking the incident very seriously.”
