Anantapur: Axar Patel scored 86 runs after a poor start against India C on the first day of the Duleep Trophy Tournament 2024 here on Thursday and then took two wickets to bring India D back into the match. India C pacers Anshul Kamboj (2/47) and Vijaykumar Vishak (3/19) took advantage of the helpful pitch to dismiss the India D batsmen, leaving the team in a difficult position after losing six wickets for 48 runs.Axar Patel did amazing batting
Batting at number seven, Axar started cautiously and then scored 86 off 118 balls to single-handedly help India D reach 164 in 48.3 overs. India C, in reply, were 91 for four at stumps on day one, trailing India D by 73 runs. After pacer Harshit Rana took two wickets in the first 10 overs, Axar impressed by dismissing Aryan Juyal (12) and Rajat Patidar (13).
Wicketkeeper-batsman Abhishek Porel (32 not out) performed impressively for India C and was at the crease with Baba Indrajit (14 not out) till stumps. Earlier, left-handed batsman Axar has impressed with the bat in the red and white ball formats for India in recent times. He hit half a dozen sixes during his innings. He hit three sixes against spinner Manav Sutar. Axar Patel is constantly impressing everyone with his batting. Patel also scored very important runs against South Africa in the final of the T20 World Cup 2024. Axar Patel’s 47-run innings played an important role in helping India win the final.
Ravindra Jadeja can be replaced in the test team
