Armand Duplantis achieves yet another world record in pole vaulting. Jakob Ingebrigtsen also sets one over 3000 m.

Duplantis cleared 6.26 m at the Diamond League meeting in Chorzow. With that, the 24-year-old Swede jumped one centimeter higher than on August 5 during his triumph at the Olympic Games in Paris. This was his tenth world record overall, the third this year – the first one in 2024 was achieved in April in Xiamen. Duplantis cleared 6.26 m on his second attempt, having previously cleared 5.62 m, 5.92 m, and 6.00 m flawlessly.

Ingebrigtsen improved a nearly 28-year-old world record over 3000 m. The 23-year-old Norwegian finished with a time of 7:17.55 minutes, 3.12 seconds faster than Kenyan Daniel Komen’s time set on September 1, 1996, in Rieti. He improved his best time on this distance by more than six seconds. “At the beginning, the pace felt very fast, but then I found a good rhythm,” said Ingebrigtsen. “Now I want to tackle the world records in all (my) distances – but one step at a time.”
