In a hall in Coimbatore, the poet emperor Vairamuthu’s golden jubilee and birthday celebrations were held. Water Resources Minister Duraimurugan, Malaysia Human Resource Development Minister Saravanan, former Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram, Thenisaid Theral Deva and others were present.

Vairamuthu is writing at an age when he is consuming literature while keeping his works aside. Therefore I consider Vairamuthu as the poet of the century.
Vairamuthu’s fame has spread from Vadugapatti to Washington. The Tamil child given by Vadugapatti has emerged as a poet emperor today. Language is what connects thought and action. Languages including Latin and Cocknish in England have become extinct. Cocknish has become English today. Language is important.. we should rule the language.. language should rule us. There is a fear that imposing one language as the official language will lead to the extinction of other languages.
Language is our identity. Vairamuthu should live as long as the Tamil language flourishes. Many more awards await Vairamuthu. Vairamuthu, who started his literary career in 1972, should continue till his 100 years,” he said.
After that, when Minister Duraimurugan started speaking, he wiped the microphone with a handkerchief and started talking, causing laughter in the hall. Duraimurugan laughed and said “Kalam kettu ketaku” while laughing. Speaking after this, he said, “Vairamuthu is my best friend… a lifelong friend.
He is honest, he walks upright, he never forgets himself in any situation. As much as poetry has a range of words, it has a range of prose. Even if the world is destroyed, people who are proud of Tamil literature should definitely read Aartuppa. You are the living Bharati, the living Bharathidasan, the living Kannadasa and the living Vairamuthu,” he said.
