French President Emmanuel Macron snatched a jet of cherry tomatoes while talking to residents who came to meet him. The incident occurred during his visit to the crowded aisles of a market in the province of Val d’Ause, a visit that the Elysee Palace has not announced until today (Wednesday) morning. The security service surrounded the president while opening an umbrella over his head, but very quickly the visit resumed as planned.
This is Emanuel Macron’s first public appearance since Sunday night so he celebrated his victory in the second round. Macron was talking to a small crowd in a market in Sergei, a north-western suburb of Paris, when someone in the crowd threw a handful of cherry tomatoes at him.
The tomatoes hit a passerby and did not hit the president, but led to shouts from the crowd and pressure from security guards who opened an umbrella to protect Macaroon from another attack.
Macron said he was visiting Sergei, an area of about 65,000 people located about 30 kilometers from central Paris, to show his commitment to listening to all French people, no matter who they voted for. Nearly half – 48 percent – of suburban voters voted for far-left candidate Jean-Luc Melenchon in the first round of the April 10 presidential election, with Macron trailing far behind, with just 23.7 percent. “I came to say that I heard the voices of each and every one, and that I would continue to be involved in the neighborhoods every day,” Macron said, before the incident occurred.

This is not the first time Macron has been abducted literally, in June last year French President Emmanuel Macron visited the south of France in a special food complex, and had lunch with catering professionals, during which one of the participants abruptly slapped him.
Also last September, Macron was abducted, during a tour of the International Food Fair in the city of Lyon by French President Emmanuel Macron, when an egg was thrown at him from the crowd and hit him in the neck. The egg thrower was arrested within seconds by the president’s bodyguards and taken for questioning.
