The Minister of Transportation, William Camargo, reported that there were no total or partial road closures due to emergencies in the road network during the return of travelers, which shows a positive balance for the festive period.

According to data provided by the Superintendency of Transportation, a total of 8.4 million vehicles circulated on the country’s roads during Semana Mayor. During the festive period, a total of 5,300 uniformed personnel were deployed on the country’s roads, carrying out control and prevention tasks in more than 60 areas of interest.

In relation to the accident figures, Minister Camargo highlighted that the preliminary data of a 57% reduction is encouraging, although he stressed the need to wait for the final report, which will be obtained by comparing data with Forensic Medicine, a process that can take approximately two months.
