Majority owner Nasko Sirakov was the first guest in the club podcast “The Voice of Levski”. In it, the legendary scorer spoke about various topics and was adamant that the club does not see a light, but the sun at the end of the tunnel.

The tunnel in question is the huge financial crisis that occurred at “Gerena” after the resignation of the previous owner Vasil Bozhkov at the beginning of 2020. Sirakov focused on the people who worked for the “blues” in those 4 and a half years.

At that time, “Levski” was led by coaches Zhivko Milanov, Georgi Todorov and Slavisha Stojanovic in its most difficult years from a financial point of view, after which the most beloved “son” coach Stanimir Stoilov returned to the club. With him at the helm, the first trophy was won after 13 years – the Bulgarian Cup.

After Elin Topazukov temporarily occupied the post last season, the “blues” were unsuccessfully led by Nikolay Kostov. Since the summer, the former football player of the team Stanislav Genchev has been at the head of “Levski”, who has other “blue” people in his staff – Zhivko Milanov, Darko Tasevski and Yordan Gospodinov.

“In no case can we not mention the coaches who worked in 2020 – Georgi Todorov, Zhivko Milanov, Slavisha… They worked in the hardest and darkest times in the history of the club. They worked with footballers who did not take 4 – 5 months of wages. Then the last thing I was worried about was the results. Then we fought tooth and nail to save ourselves. I rate all the coaches, them and the others.

The following coaches, after them, when there was light in the tunnel, made a decent selection, won an extremely important cup, further developed the available players, so that now we get to Stanislav Genchev. It’s too early to rate him. The good thing is that this coaching staff is “blue”, all of it. These are guys that have worked with me from a very young age. They know me well and know what my desires are. I’m extremely pleased with them and I’m keeping my fingers crossed for them,” Sirakov said, then talked about the CEOs.

“The same applies to Pavel Kolev, as to the first three coaches. It was terribly difficult to work in those times, but I thank both him and Konstantin Bazhdekov. Ivo Ivkov had less positive and more negative things. He must have done everything with the great desire to save “Levski”, but things did not work out for him during his time, and I had to make a change. His successor, Daniel Borimirov, does a fantastic job, not 100% , and 1000% I’m sure the “blue community” appreciates it too.

“Levski” has an iron financial discipline and according to this indicator our club definitely stands out from most others in Bulgaria. We spend as much as we earn, but also cover old debts. We are not leaving this framework and it has been for a year and a half, thanks mostly to the work of Daniel Borimirov and Borysla Georgiev (CFO – B.A.)who are the executive power in Levski. They are doing a fantastic job and I am happy with them,” shared the owner.

He also commented on the performance so far in the season.

“My assessment of the results is still excellent. We falter in certain matches, but let’s not forget that this team was built three months ago. I accept it as normal, and in terms of point assets our performance is very good. Maybe even more good, but not to be maximalist. I said at the beginning that the goal is between first and third place.

Here we differ with Genchev, he wants to be champion. That is why he is in “Levski”. I am satisfied with the work of the coaching staff, with the behavior of almost all players in the training process, so – fingers crossed,” said Sirakov.
