“The daily growth rate of Telegram exceeded the norm by an order of magnitude, and in one day we accepted more than 70 million refugees from other platforms,” wrote Mr. Durov, adding that users from South and North America may have noticed a decrease in the speed of the messenger, but in general the team “Coped with unprecedented growth.”

Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram have been unavailable since the evening of October 4, the largest outage on the internet in years. It was possible to restore the work only after a few hours, Facebook reported that a hardware configuration error was the cause.
