Dutchwoman Lorena Wiebes won the 3rd stage of the Tour de France Women on Tuesday July 25 in Montignac-Lascaux in the Dordogne where her Belgian teammate at SD Worx Lotte Kopecky kept her yellow jersey.
Already victorious twice last year on the Grande Boucle, Wiebes won in the sprint ahead of her compatriot Marianne Vos and Kopecky to sign her tenth success this season.
Wiebes justified her status as the best sprinter in the world by taking advantage of the work of her teammates who allowed the peloton to catch Belgian Julie Van de Velde on the wire, who escaped 58 kilometers from the line and only recovered 250 meters from the goal.
The Flemish climber was the main host of the race. After her attack on the Andrieux coast, she widened a gap of up to 2 minutes 30 seconds thirty kilometers from Montignac.
A lead that forced the peloton to react in the final, at the initiative of the DSM team of Dutch sprinter Charlotte Kool and Frenchwoman Juliette Labous, candidate for the podium after her recent second place at the Giro d’Italia Donne.
But Kool, eventually seventh, could do nothing against the power of Wiebes, perfectly taken to 50 meters by Kopecky.

After Kopecky’s victory on Sunday in Clermont-Ferrand, this is a second success for SD Worx, whose leader Demi Vollering shares the status of favorite of the event with her compatriot Annemiek van Vleuten, defending champion .
The two women crossed the line at the same time within the peloton.
On Wednesday, the riders will tackle the longest stage of this edition: 177 kilometers between Cahors and Rodez. One of the most difficult with five listed difficulties and the last 40 kilometers without almost a meter of flat.

Things will get complicated 40 km from the goal when four severe successive climbs, including the Saint-Pierre coast, will condition a terribly demanding finish.
