The new season in Italian football kicked off with very good news for Colombian forward Duván Zapata, ‘El Toro,’ who scored in the 2-2 draw of Torino away against AC Milan at the Giuseppe Meazza in the opening of Serie A.
This is Zapata’s second goal of the season with his club, having played two matches and scored two goals, as he also found the net a week ago in the Coppa Italia when they defeated Cosenza.
In the first matchday of Serie A, Torino showed great strength in their visit to AC Milan, as Colombian Duván Zapata’s team started by taking the lead in the 30th minute thanks to an own goal from the local team by German Malick Thiaw.
Then, in the second half came Zapata’s goal; the Colombian took advantage of a cross from the left by Valentino Lazaro and with a precise header in the small area sent it to the back of the net.
After the goal, coach Paolo Vanoli decided to substitute Zapata with Karamoh, a change along with a few others that cost the team for the remainder of the game.
Near the end of the match, Milan narrowed the score with a goal from Spanish Álvaro Morata. But as if that weren’t enough, in stoppage time, the hosts found the equalizer with a goal from Noah Okafor.
With his goal, Duván Zapata reached 14 goals since he has worn the colors of Torino.
In the next round, Torino will host Atalanta.
