Dysfunctions observed in the canteens of several colleges

by time news

Concern among parents of schoolchildren from Hauts-de-Seine. Meals not delivered or not on time, in insufficient quantity, problems organizing passages to the student canteen, lack of staff: malfunctions were observed in the canteens of seven colleges in the department delivered by the Sodexo group.

Ravioli at 3 p.m.

At the André-Maurois college in Neuilly-sur-Seine, 38 children could not have lunch this Tuesday at noon and received a portion of ravioli around 3 p.m., says Sabrina Didier, vice-president of the PEEP Maurois. “It’s far from what you would expect from a company like Sodexo,” she said. Students have also had to make do with sandwiches in recent days.

Sodexo, the collective catering group which has managed the service of 54 colleges in the department since September 1, recognized “difficulties in certain colleges, linked in particular to the fact that registrations for the school catering service are still in progress”. “It is therefore sometimes difficult to estimate the exact number of children who eat breakfast on a day-to-day basis. In this context, it is more complex for our teams to plan supplies accordingly,” said Sodexo.

“Monitoring visits” by the Department

According to PEEP Maurois, the meal cancellation site is faulty. Six other colleges out of the 83 in the department are concerned, according to the Department, which specified that “targeted action plans had been put in place so that the service provider could immediately settle the failures observed”. The Department claims to have “carried out control visits to all colleges”.

In Neuilly, “we have very worried parents for the rest of the year. In our school, they are about two thirds of half-board students, ”says the former president of PEEP Maurois, Céline Hangard. Since the start of the school year, under the effect of inflation, local authorities and families have paid particular attention to the operation of canteens. For the school year that is beginning, inflation should once again weigh on the budgets of local authorities and parents due to the rise in food and energy prices.
