In the final swim at the Paris “La Defense” arena, E. Matakas was faster than in the morning selection and covered the distance in 1 minute. 14.93 sec. and the fourth touched the wall of the pool. This is E. Matak’s new personal record in this event.

Dutchman Rogier Dorsman (1:11.07) was the fastest in the final, Chinese Bozun Yang (1:12.26) was second, Ukrainian Danylo Chufarov came third (1:12.72).

“Yes, I was hoping for a personal record because it was very easy to swim in the morning. I had a goal to beat my personal best and I did it. The Games were not in vain. Of course, it would be difficult to expect to be among the prize winners with this time, but I don’t even know, I’m not bad at breaststroke, maybe I need to concentrate more here (smiles – ed.). But now is not the time to think about that. Now we need to celebrate, celebrate the wedding, and then I’ll think about it,” said E. Matakas.

In the selection held on Thursday morning, E. Matakas covered the distance in 1 minute. 15.69 sec. and demonstrated the fourth result among all the participants of the selection.

It was the second start in Paris for Edgar Mataks. The man from Kaunas took 6th place in his main event – 50-meter freestyle swimming.

For the swimmer, these games are the third in his career. Three years ago, E. Matakas won a bronze medal at the Tokyo Paralympic Games.
