In Coimbatore district, more than 50 thousand micro and small industries are engaged in manufacturing of ‘pump set’, wet grinder, auto mobile parts. There are more than 5 lakh workers. There are more than 30 thousand people relying on ‘Job Order’.
Due to reasons including increase in electricity tariffs, the industry is facing a major crisis.
In the production of various products, including ‘pump sets’, Tamil Nadu industry has been pushed into an environment where it cannot compete with other states.
Tamil Nadu Industry and Small Entrepreneurs Association (TACT) President James said:
Along with the electricity bill, the property tax has been increased by 150 percent, so more than 30 thousand micro and small enterprises have to pay increased rent.
Garbage tax, ‘Running License’ fee is different. We are afraid that we will last in this sector. Up to 112 kilowatts, in a single ‘category’. Currently, it is divided into two.
That is, below 50 kilowatts, the monthly ‘fixed charge’ is 75 rupees, and above 51 kilowatts, up to 112 kilowatts, 150 rupees. If the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu does not find an immediate solution, the business will be paralyzed.
