The path of the second moon will not be the same as that of our natural satellite, but it will follow a double elliptical trajectory before moving away from Earth.

As of Sunday, September 29, Earth has a new natural satellite that accompanies the Moon, according to confirmation from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) of the United States, which specified that the asteroid will remain captured by our planet’s gravity until November 25.

According to NASA, this “moon” is actually a “moon” that is only 10 meters long, which belongs to the so-called Arjuna asteroid belt, one of the space objects located near Earth.

The asteroid, named 2024 PT5, was captured by our planet’s gravity on Sunday, but according to astronomers, it is very difficult to observe from our planet, even with binoculars, due to its small size.

How the path of the second moon will be

This second moon was discovered by NASA on August 7, and according to Paul Chodas, director of the Center for Near-Earth Object Studies at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, it could be a piece of our Moon that was ejected from the natural satellite after the impact of a meteorite.

According to reports from NASA, the path of this second moon will not be the same as that of our natural satellite, but will follow a double elliptical trajectory, before moving away from Earth.

Watch below the trajectory that the second moon will follow until November 25.
