Earthquake risk map in Europe

This map, made recently, shows the seismic risk that exists in each area of ​​Europe.

On the map, the risk levels are indicated, from lowest to highest, with the following colors, respectively: white, pale blue, strong blue, dark blue, dull red, light red, strong red, dark red, and red Very dark.

Improving the accuracy of this map as much as possible is a crucial part of the work of the team led by Ayse Ataç Nyberg of the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Sweden and Jürgen Gerl of the Helmholtz Center for Heavy Ion Research in Germany. , within the framework of the artEmis project, aimed at finding more reliable seismic risk measurement techniques.
