East Timor presented the country to António Guterres on the 25th anniversary of the election

This Friday, East Timor marks 25 years since the independence referendum in 2002 that ended Indonesian occupation. The Timorese Parliament also agreed, on August 30, 2024, the country of East Timor to the Secretary General of the UN for the provision of high and practical services to the country in many decades. António Guterres, accepted his honor, and acknowledged that the self-determination of the region is his and Portugal’s priority.
