RC Lens had no trouble defeating Angers Sco (3-0) this Saturday, March 18, thanks in particular to a double from Loïs Openda in six minutes.

Lens temporarily took second place in Ligue 1 on Saturday by playing against bottom side Angers (3-0) before the Olympique de Marseille match, and Lille won with difficulty in Toulouse (2-0) but confirmed their European ambitions. Faced with almost non-existent Angevins, despite a good start to the match, the Lensois did not force, in particular thanks to a double from Loïs Openda (39th, 45th): the Belgian totaled five goals in two days and fourteen since the start of the season.
A few minutes before, captain Seko Fofana (who had exchanged his jersey with Jean-Louis Leca) had opened the scoring (25th) for the Northerners. On a deep pass, Fofana cheated the goalkeeper with a shot from the right into the opposite side netting. Very little requested, Brice Samba, called Thursday for the first time in the French team by Didier Deschamps, kept his goal empty. Before the start of the match, the young goalkeeper had received a standing ovation from Bollaert.
Lille still believes in Europe
In the fight for Europe, the other northerner, Lille, can continue to hope, after its – difficult – victory against Toulouse (2-0). It was not until the end of the match (86th) that Lille defender Alexsandro deceived the Toulouse goalkeeper with a header from a corner. A few minutes later (90+6), Mohamed Bayo validated the success of the Mastiffs, who were held in check for a long time due to their imprecision. On several occasions, the TFC could have scored, especially at the end of the match on a strike from Sierro.

After this meeting, interrupted a few minutes in the first period because of a hailstorm, Lille are therefore provisionally fifth in L1. They find themselves two points ahead of Rennes, who play Sunday against Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes. Bad news, however: in additional time, Timothy Weah went out on a stretcher after a violent shock. With a third consecutive defeat at home, Toulouse sinks in the middle of the table, in 11th place.
