EasyJet will equip its entire fleet of Airbus A320, A320neo, and A321neo aircraft with SpaceX Starlink high-speed satellite internet, with installations beginning in the first half of 2027 and reaching completion across the fleet by early 2028.
The airline currently serves roughly 100 million travelers annually, according to regional reporting covering the carrier’s passenger volume. Until now, the airline did not offer an internet connection service on its flights. According to Jarvis, offering passengers the ability to connect in flight will mean even more choice and convenience for those who fly with easyJet. Passengers flying with the budget carrier will gain access to in-flight connectivity for streaming, online gaming, and browsing from their own devices.

The connectivity hardware relies on SpaceX’s constellation of satellites. This aims to deliver a web experience closer to what users encounter on the ground.
Installation work across the carrier’s fleet of Airbus single-aisle jets will get underway in the opening half of 2027. The implementation schedule targets completion by the beginning of 2028.

Passengers Gain In-Flight Access For Business And Leisure
Travelers will be able to order items from the in-board menu directly from their seats using their personal devices. Beyond general web access, the new digital system will allow passengers to check real-time flight details, destination weather, transport links, and local tourism offerings through the airline app and website.
In an world increasingly digital, staying connected is more important than ever for many of our passengers: from those on holiday who want to relax with a bit of entertainment on board, to our business passengers who need to stay updated on what is happening on the ground.
Kenton Jarvis, CEO of easyJet
SpaceX executives emphasized the reliability of the service from departure to arrival. Company leadership framed the partnership as a way to widen choices for both business and leisure customers when deciding which carrier to fly.

European Rival Airlines Compete For Satellite Connectivity
European rival Wizz Air secured a similar partnership agreement in June, while major network carriers including American Airlines, United Airlines, and British Airways already utilize Starlink equipment on parts of their fleets. The move places the British low-cost carrier into a competitive arena where satellite connectivity is changing.
Company executives have previously pointed out that achieving economic sustainability for in-flight Wi-Fi remains a distinct operational challenge, and financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed by the airline.

In Switzerland, where easyJet Switzerland maintains major bases at Geneva and EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse, the carrier captures significant market share—handling nearly 45% of passengers at Cointrin while Swiss stops at 12.4%, and reaching a 55% market share at the EuroAirport of Basel-Mulhouse according to data from trade association Aerosuisse. Passengers traveling through regional hubs like Milan Malpensa will see the new connectivity installed as the retrofit program progresses toward its 2028 completion deadline. Many ticinesi are also well acquainted with easyJet, given that the company maintains one of its main bases at Milan Malpensa, the reference airport for departures from the Sottoceneri region.
