New Delhi: The Election Commission has uploaded the data of electoral bonds on its website. State Bank of India (SBI) had handed over the data of electoral bonds to the Election Commission after the strictness of the Supreme Court. The Election Commission has uploaded the data received from SBI regarding election bonds on its website on Thursday, a day before the deadline. The Election Commission had received orders from the Supreme Court to upload the data before 5 pm on March 15. The Election Commission made the electoral bond data public on Thursday. Following the Supreme Court’s direction, State Bank of India (SBI) had shared the data with the commission on March 12. The apex court had given time till 5 pm on March 15 to the Election Commission to upload the data on its website. The Election Commission has put out the details on ‘Disclosure of Electoral Bonds offered by SBI’ in two parts. According to data uploaded by the poll body, buyers of electoral bonds include Grasim Industries, Megha Engineering, Piramal Enterprises, Torrent Power, Bharti Airtel, DLF Commercial Developers, Vedanta Ltd, Apollo Tyres, Lakshmi Mittal, Edelweiss, PVR, Kventar. , Sula Wine, Welspun, and Sun Pharma. According to the data, the parties that have encashed electoral bonds include Bharatiya Janata Party, Congress, AIADMK, BRS, Shiv Sena, TDP, YSR Congress, DMK, JDS, NCP, Trinamool Congress, JDU, RJD, AAP and Samajwadi Party.

In a landmark judgment delivered on February 15, a five-judge Constitution bench of the Supreme Court had struck down the Centre’s electoral bond scheme allowing anonymous political funding. The bench had called it ‘unconstitutional’ and ordered the Election Commission to disclose the donors, the amount donated by them and the recipients.
