Kanyakumari district has been inundated by heavy rains for the past three days.

The depression formed in the southern Andamans is present in the central Andamans. The Indian Meteorological Department has forecast that it will strengthen into a low pressure area on the 17th.
Due to this heavy rain is falling in various districts of Tamil Nadu. The Chennai Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rains in Tamil Nadu for another five days.
The Chennai Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for the Amma district as there is a possibility of heavy rain in the Kanyakumari district. Heavy rain is expected in a few places and heavy rain in a couple of places.
District Collector Arvind announced that schools and colleges in Kanyakumari will be closed today due to continuous rains.
