‘Preview in Seoul 2024’, an exhibition introducing fashion trends and innovative textile technologies, will be held at COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul from the 21st to the 23rd. This exhibition, which is in its 25th year, will provide a glimpse into the trends of the textile and fashion industry, including eco-friendly recycled products.

This exhibition will be held on the largest scale ever, with 576 domestic and foreign companies setting up 888 booths. Last year, 507 domestic and foreign companies operated 746 booths. The exhibited items include textile yarns, fabrics, auxiliary materials, and fashion clothing. Including both online and offline events, a total of 33,000 people are expected to attend.

This time in particular, many overseas global buyers were invited. Various brands such as Burberry, Hugo Boss, Bottega Veneta, Alexander Wang, Ralph Lauren, Supreme, Lululemon, Li-Ning, Spiritual Gangster, and Club Monaco are participating. An official from the Korea Federation of Textile Industries explained the background of the invitation, saying, “Overseas buyers based in Europe, the Americas, and Asia have a high level of interest in Korean materials and even have actual purchasing decision-making authority.”

The concept of the event is ‘Beyond the Wave’, which means to open a new path for the future beyond global uncertainty and crisis. In particular, it contains many concerns about the need to develop eco-friendly technologies to prepare for the depletion of natural resources and seek sustainability.

To this end, we decided to replace printed guidebooks with electronic ones in the exhibition layout and operation, and to introduce paper admission tickets instead of plastic ones. Exhibition booths, etc. will be made of recyclable materials. The 275 domestic companies participating in the exhibition will exhibit eco-friendly functional yarns, auxiliary materials, clothing, and accessories. This includes biodegradable technology, artificial leather, and fur products.

There are also various things to see. The newly introduced ‘AI Fashion Tech Hall’ will present the future direction of the textile and fashion industry by incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) technology into fashion. A total of 15 diverse seminars will be held to examine new technologies and trends in the domestic and international textile and fashion industries. The ‘2024 Trend Fair’ hosted by the Korea Fashion Industry Association will also be held at the same time.
