Ecological transition: in Alsace, a municipality earns money by selling its electricity

“In just five years, we have made our investment profitable,” says Michel Renaudet, first deputy mayor of Muttersholtz. Located in the heart of the Alsatian region of Grand Ried, the town of 2,000 souls was equipped with a hydraulic power station for the amount of 2 million euros in 2017. “At the time, we were taken for fools by telling us that we were throwing our money out the window. From now on, we are contacted by town halls all over France who inquire about our installation, ”confides the elected official.
