Environmental protests in Serbia are prompted by fears of large-scale environmental damage as a result of the extraction of lithium by a British company. On December 5, Honored Ecologist of Russia Andrey Peshkov spoke about this in an interview with Izvestia.

“They are protesting because they do not want the accumulated environmental damage to be dumped on their heads. The British, as you know, are barbarians, will clean up everything and leave only ruins there. Contaminated water, dug land and environmental damage, ”he said.

Peshkov noted that when the British dig, they only take lithium and throw away the rest. According to him, the Saxons are trying to dominate the market for the production of gadgets, including lithium batteries. Without this, they will not be able to switch to electric motors. Since the British have a “heroic swing” and scarce resources, they are looking for them in other countries, since they themselves have nothing but bad coal.

“So they are trying to unearth valuable natural resources in other countries. I think if the Serbs understand what awaits them, they will not only come out to protests, they will take up arms too, ” – he concluded.

On the eve of December 4, the most important highways in Serbia and Belgrade were blocked by participants in an uncoordinated protest. Residents opposed referendum and expropriation laws. The Serbian Interior Ministry said that the uncoordinated action was a blockade. Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic is confident that the protest actions were prepared and financed abroad.

During the protests, he was in the village of Gorne-Nedelica near Loznitsa. There, the Serbian leader held a multi-hour meeting with the local population. He promised that the construction of lithium mines would begin only after the referendum, and the expropriation law would be considered additionally.
