Economic Center: 70 Million People Live in 10 Arab Cities, Baghdad Ranks Second

/ Director of the Iraqi Center for Economic and Political Studies, Wissam Hadmal Al-Helou, said on Wednesday that the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, is ranked second among 10 Arab cities in the latest official statistics regarding population density, noting that about 70 million people live in those cities.

According to Al-Helou in a report published today, Cairo topped the list of Arab cities with more than one million inhabitants, with a total of 22.62 million people, followed by the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, with a total of 7.92 million people, and the Saudi capital, Riyadh, in third place, with a total of 7.82 million people.

The Sudanese capital, Khartoum, came in fourth place with a total population of 6.54 million, and the city of Alexandria in Egypt came in fifth place with a total population of 5.69 million.

Jeddah in Saudi Arabia came in sixth place with a total population of 4.94 million, followed by Casablanca in Morocco in seventh place with a total population of 3.95 million. Dubai came in eighth place with a total population of 3.65 million, Sana’a in Yemen came in ninth place with a total population of 3.40 million, and the Kuwaiti capital came in ninth place with a total population of 3.35 million.
