Vila do Bispo City Hall reported that construction work on the ecoavia and cycle path on the South West Coast of the city has been completed, a project representing a global investment of 1.6 million euros.
With a length of 31,531 km, the infrastructure includes two parts, the ecovia consisting of 26,081 km that connects Sagres with the municipality of Aljezur and the cycle path with 5,450 km that provides a cycle link between the four road roundabout of Sagres and Cabo. of Saint Vincent. “The route was defined based on existing roads with reduced traffic and high landscape value in order to create more attractiveness in their use”, highlights the city hall in a published note.
The ecoavia and the transversal cycle route have different characteristics, while the ecoavia aims to cater for cycle trips along the coast (T/T) and for longer and longer distances, the ecoavia is a shorter cycle route cycleway that acts as a link between. different points of interest along the way, basically coast and beaches, he explains.
The municipality refers to a structuring project for Vila do Bispo in terms of mobility and the attractiveness of the territory, which is “an important step in the construction of a sustainable and environmentally friendly municipality”. 70% of the investment made in this work is supported by community funds, through the Cresc Algarve 2020 and Algarve 2030 Programmes.
