The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock of Ecuador (MAG) has participated in the III CELAC-China Forum of Ministers of Agriculture, with the aim of consolidating a strategic partnership that benefits the Ecuadorian agricultural sector.
This event has been a platform to discuss priority areas and approaches aimed at strengthening bilateral collaboration, opening new markets for Ecuadorian agricultural products, and promoting a more resilient, innovative and sustainable agricultural sector.
Representing Ecuador, the Vice Minister of Agricultural Productive Development, Esteban del Hierro, highlighted the importance of the agricultural sector in the country’s economy, stressing that Ecuador has a significant competitive advantage in the global market due to its strategic location in Latin America.
In this context, the need to increase sanitary access for more products with export potential was highlighted, in order to diversify the exportable offer and strengthen trade relations under the framework of the FTA signed with China.
During the forum, Ecuadorian products were actively promoted and new trade links were established, while Vice Minister Esteban del Hierro carried out an extensive cooperation agenda. This included meetings with agricultural ministers from the region and China, government and private sector representatives, as well as technical visits to sustainable agricultural and forestry projects in China.
