Luisa González, president of the Citizen Revolution movement (RC5), announced this Monday, July 22, 2024, that on August 10, the election of the presidential binomial, the candidates for assembly members and their alternates, for the 2025 elections will take place.

“Save us,” people tell us on each of the tours we make around the country.

This was stated in an interview on Radio Pichincha, in which González also highlighted the need to unite around a government plan and said that he has held meetings with various politicians, including the former prefect of Guayas, Jimmy Jairala, founder and main figure of the Centro Democrático movement.

Luisa González also mentioned that right-wing actors, although she did not specify who they are, have expressed their interest and she plans to talk with them to reach key agreements on social policies, health, education, security and economy.

The former RC5 presidential candidate also suggested that there could be surprises regarding the first candidate, but stressed that he or she must be a member of the movement. As for the vice-presidency, she indicated that he or she could come from other sectors, not directly linked to the movement.

The current presidential candidates for the Citizen Revolution are González, former minister Gustavo Jalkh, Augusto Verduga, member of the Council for Citizen Participation and Social Control (CPCCS) and the current prefect of Pichincha, Paola Pabón.

González advocated for an inclusive government and stressed the importance of unity within the RC5 membership and called for healing internal divisions and working as a team.
