The Civil Registry of Ecuador has announced the opening of five new agencies for the issuance of passports in various provinces of the country, bringing the total number of service points nationwide to 37. The new offices are located in Manabí, Azuay, Guayas and Pichincha, and will offer their services from Monday to Friday, from 08:00 to 17:00 hours.

Citizens who need to obtain their passport, either for the first time or for renewal, must pay the corresponding fee and schedule an appointment through the Virtual Civil Registry Agency. The general fee for issuing the passport is $90.00. However, senior citizens enjoy a 50% discount, and people with a disability equal to or greater than 30% can obtain the document for free.

The new agencies that join the passport issuing network are:

Manabi

– Chone: Sixto Duran-Ballen Avenue, Plutarco Moreira Street, corner.

Azuay

– El Batán: Mexico Avenue and National Unity.

– Bellavista: Luis Cordero Street and Heroes of Verdeloma.

Guayas

– North (Guayaquil): Via a Daule km 11.5, next to California Park.

Pichincha

– San Blas (Quito): Gran Colombia Avenue No. 11-258 and General Pedro Briceño.

In addition, the Civil Registry has established that elderly people, people with disabilities or catastrophic illnesses, pregnant women and minors under 18 years of age do not need to schedule an appointment and can be served preferentially by going directly to the nearest agency. This effort to expand services seeks to facilitate citizens’ access to their travel documents, improving the efficiency and coverage of the Civil Registry at a national level.
